Együtt Európában a demokráciáért, együtt a rasszizmus, az antiszemitizmus és a neonácizmus ellen!

Mint szerte Európában, Görögországban is egyre nagyobb teret nyer a rasszizmus, az antiszemitizmus és a neonácizmus, miközben a demokratikus erők erős és határozott fellépése rendre elmarad.
Rasszista, antiszemita és holokauszttagadó beszédek, valamint az erőszakos cselekedetek egyre növekvő száma ássa alá Görögországban a demokrácia alapjait – abban az országban, ahol a demokrácia megszületett.
Könnyű lenne az országot sújtó gazdasági és társadalmi válság számlájára írni, a válság „természetes” és figyelmen kívül hagyható következményeinek tekinteni mindezeket, de nem szabad így tenni. És nemcsak azért, mert egy demokratikus társadalom számára minden körülmények között elengedhetetlen az emberi jogok tisztelete, de azért is, mert a válság nem fog egyik napról a másikra véget érni.
Minthogy mára a helyzet Görögországban elfogadhatatlanná vált, mi, a civil társadalom vezetői, értelmiségiek, művészek, a társadalmi és politikai életben aktív szerepet vállaló állampolgárok együtt és hangosan kiáltjuk: Elég!
Elég a rasszista támadásokból! Elég a rendőrség és az Arany Hajnal neonáci erőszaktevőinek összeborulásából! Elég a rasszista, antiszemita, holokauszttagadó beszédekből! Elég a jogrendszer passzivitásából! Elég az Arany Hajnal gengsztereivel szembeni engedékenységből, a nekik nyújtott védelemből és támogatásból!
A demokratikus erők közönye és gyengesége őket erősíti.
Félreértés ne essék: a görögországi rasszizmus, antiszemitizmus és neonácizmus elleni harc nem egy Görögország elleni harc; ez a harc egy olyan ideológia elleni harc, mely a gyűlöleten alapul, és folyamatosan terjed az egész kontinensen. Ez a harc része a demokráciáért folytatott nagy európai küzdelemnek. Ez a harc minden demokratikus erő harca szerte Európában; s ezen erők most a görögországi demokraták mobilizálásáért emelnek szót. Reményt kell adni mindenkinek, de elsősorban a fiataloknak, egy olyan jövő reményét, amely nemcsak az adósság-visszafizetésről szól. Életben kell tartani az európai álmot, egy olyan, minden ízében demokratikus kontinensét, melyben nincs hely sem a rasszizmusnak, sem az antiszemitizmusnak.
Európának el kell köteleznie magát ebben a nagyszerű és csodálatos harcban, azért is, mert a jelenlegi, Görögországgal szembeni politikai fellépés – a bevándorlási ügyekben éppúgy, mint a megszorítások terén – a melegágyát jelenti a neonácizmus terjedésének.
A görög politikai vezetőknek ugyancsak el kell kötelezniük magukat: az állami intézményrendszerek elégtelen működése, a közöny és a támogatás, melyet az Arany Hajnal élvez, csak táplálják azt az engedékenységet, mely a rasszista megnyilvánulások és nyilatkozatok megsokszorozódásához vezet.
A társadalom egészének is el kell köteleznie magát. Mindenkinek a maga felelőssége, hogy azt mondja, „Elég!”, hogy a neonácik is megértsék: a demokrácia bizonyosa határok betartását jelenti, és a demokraták tesznek róla, hogy ezeket a határokat mindenki tiszteletben tartsa.
Ezért szólunk az igazság, a szabadság és az egyenlőség híveihez, ezért hívjuk őket, hogy csatlakozzanak hozzánk, fejezzék ki a demokrácia iránti elkötelezettségüket, és a rasszizmus, antiszemitizmus és a neonácizmus elutasítását, s vegyenek részt a parlamenttől az Akropoliszig vezető csendes sétán, amely december 15-én délután 3-kor veszi kezdetét.
